Don't you just love it when a day goes right?
In this market it seems like a day "going right" for a real estate lender in a "down" market is an ... let's face it ... an oxymoron.
But, my going "right" days have been more than my "not so". Why is that? It is due to so very many things. I could make a list of all the things that have gone wrong... like so many folks do. I could point out how the housing crisis is intensifying and lambast the government auditors that should have saved all the "poor" taken advantage of consumers . I could call for more laws or reforms in the industry (which by the way I do believe in), but instead, I choose to work with each of my customers, one at a time. Because, you know, that is what my business is all about. And, what's more, I cannot do a darn thing about the industry... the defaults... the laws... the market....
My days have been going "right". My clients come to me from past customers, their friends and family, and from real estate professionals. Builders refer me to an associate and realtors refer me to their customers or another realtor associate. They know I can be trusted to give honest and truthful advice and represent their best interests. My day goes right when I know that the loan combination is right for my customer.
For example, I'm working with two different, but very much the same, first time home buyers. Both are single ladies in their 30's. Both are very well educated. One is an Iraq veteran, one is a school math teacher. One has found a lovely home in a beautiful planned community, the other has just started the search. Finding the right loan program for their purchasing power and their payment abilities - that made my day. I'm looking forward to the celebration parties (my hosted house warming for them) when we close escrow.
Another example is the call that came in this afternoon from the son of a client I helped with financing seven (yes 7) years ago. His dad had died in 2003 and now he is looking to help his mom in lowering her house payments. The question, "Ingrid, please see what can be done to stretch mom's limited ssi and pension by reducing her house payment." I'm working on that tomorrow and reviewing options. Our SAM or Senior Advantage Mortgage may be the best solution. But, we'll see...
So you see, these are just some examples of a really good day in a bad market. It doesn't need to be all gloom and doom. Things can be good. God is good and since that is where I choose to place my trust... I'm good, as well... So you see... that's what I do... I make dreams come true.
